Vibrating Fluidized Bed Dryer

Fluidized bed drying is the optimal method for controlled, gentle and even drying of wet solids. The machine has a continuous flow of “wet” powder, granular or flakes material is conveyed over a perforated bed with hot medium such as air, steam or inert gas passing through. The intensive heat/mass exchange of the fluidized bed product makes this method particularly effective and time-saving.

T Energy Industries offers customized drying solutions to cater all different types of industrial applications such as Mineral, Food & Feed, Chemical, Biomass & Waste etc.

Knowing that no two applications are exactly alike, with the wealth of T Energy Industries engineering experience, we strive to offer the right solution for your needs, because we believe in no request too small, and no task too big.

Working Principle of Fluidised Bed Dryer

Fluid bed dryers work on the principle of fluidization, a process in which hot drying air is blown through the holes of a perforated plate.  The wet solids are lifted from the bottom and causes the  solids to behave as a fluid. The air velocity is adjusted to keep the moving layer of material fluidized. Upward forces on the particles increase as the air’s velocity increases causing them to equal the gravitational forces below.

Industrial Applications

Vibrating Fluid Bed System is designed for  drying of minerals, chemicals, food, feed, biomass, etc for the following applications:

  • Drying: Removal of liquids by evaporation , for thermally treating of powders, fibres, crystals and pelletised or extruded materials.
  • Cooling: After heating during drying, cooling is needed. Fluid bed cooler can be integrated
  • Calcination: Removal of evaporation of crystalline water.
  • Roasting / Texturization: Heat treatment to influence taste, flavour and texture.
  • Torrefaction: Mild form of pyrolysis of biomass at temperature of 200-320o
  • Puffing: Products like rice and wheat are expanded at high temperature resulting in lower bulk density and to obtain better cooking properties.
  • Sterilization & Pasterization: Natural ST-HT steam sterilization (103-122oC) & pasteurization (85-98oC) for spices, herbs & botanicals, dried vegetables, seeds & nuts.
  • Blanching: Heat treatment to deactivate enzymes & removal of peels
  • Steam Stripping/ Inert gas Drying: Removal of solvent either by inert gas heating or direct exposure of steam.

Advantages of continuous fluid-bed dryer system technology

  • Handling of sticky products (from centrifuges or filters)
  • Small footprint
  • Process flexibility
  • Reliable system, less downtime
  • Low energy consumption compared to other type of dryers
  • Accurate control of the residence time, product is dried uniformly
  • Gentle on sensitive materials (no friction)
  • Low operating costs
  • Cooling section integrated in dryer
